Today, the day after Charlie Kirk was assassinated, Pastor Michael Foster sent out a short article on his Substack and posted it on X. It read like a manifesto, but rooted in reformation and not revolution. I sent it to no less than 40 people. I asked Michael if I could read it on this episode of TheLaymensLounge.com and He has given me permission to do just that. The article is called “What Now?” Please listen and share.
by Abraham Kuyper
While sojourning in Scotland in 1881, Kuyper discovered to his amazement that Alexander Comrie (1706–1774), one of the best representatives of Reformed theology in the eighteenth century, was virtually unknown in the Scottish Presbyterian Church. Accordingly, Kuyper wrote a series of three articles for Presbyterian readers about this theologian, who was born in Perth, Scotland and who was pastor for forty years in Woubrugge, the Netherlands. The first article is a short biography based entirely on Kuyper’s own research and composed...

This is a translation of selections from Abraham Kuyper’s commentary on Lord’s Day 21b of his Heidelberg Catechism (“E voto Dordraceno. Toelichting op den Heidelbergschen Catechismus”/“E voto Dordraceno. Commentary on the Heidelberg Catechism”). Translated by Rev. Abraham Kuyper's "Evolution" address was delivered as a rectoral oration at the Free University of Amsterdam in 1899. This translation is a collaborative effort coordinated by Clarence Menninga, emeritus Professor of Geology at Calvin College (now Calvin University). The initial translation was prepared by George Kamps, reviewed and refined by Walter Lagerway, and typed from Kamps' handwritten manuscript by Jan Woudenberg-Bruinooge. Assistance was also received from Wallace Bratt on the German passages and George Harris on the Latin and Greek expressions.

The Piety of a Normal Job & the Process to Arrive There
“How can I pick the right job?” Actually, you don't need to choose a job that's "perfect for you." But you do need to be productive in ways that honor God in your work life. Here's a better question: As a believer, how can I determine what I am supposed...
Boys and Girls Portrayed Right
Most children’s book and entertainment are woefully lame (and, of course, most adult books and entertainment are lame as well [(did you guys see that there is an Amazon show for clowns that has a black, gay, handicap King of England?]). In attempts to counteract that (often with good intentions)...
